About Stardust

Stardust is an a cappella doo wop group that sings the songs of the 50's and early 60's.  Our goal is to entertain our audiences no matter what age they are and to bring back memories for those who love this music.

Stardust was formed about twelve years ago and we have blended our individual a cappella skills into a doo wop style which is uniquely our own.  We have received wonderful receptions wherever we have performed.

Collectively we have sung on WCBS, WBAB, WXBA, NEWS12, at Tara’s in Port Jefferson, Mangia’s Italian Restaurant in North Babylon, The Huntington Hilton, The Patchogue Theater, The Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, The Brookhaven Amphitheater, local libraries, Veterans Administration Medical Center in Northport, LI Veterans Home in Stony Brook, local nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and Brentwood HS.

Our members are:

Angela Patelli, (first tenor and lead), started singing doo wop with her girlfriends in her pre-teen years. She has been singing over the past 30 years locally in the St. Anthony’s HS Chorus and the Diocesan Choir.  Angela has also performed in local theater. Stardust is lucky to have her singing her first love: doo wop.

Phil Block, (baritone, bass), is a lifelong doo wop music lover who performed with various street corner groups growing up in the mid-fifties in the South Bronx. He sang with the Vitones in 1964 while serving two tours in Viet Nam with the U.S. Air force Combat Security Police. Phil retired from the telephone Company in 2001.

Bob Masone, (lead, harmony), a lifetime lover of music, played drums and sang in several groups over the years and decided to try to form a doo wop group to sing the music he loves. He is a retired teacher and Guidance Dept. Chairman, who also formerly sang with the Harbormen.

Frankie Sorrentino, (lead, harmony), a member of many doo wop groups, he is also the former Chief of the Island Park FD, and served a tour in Viet Nam as a US Marine.

Nick Ferrara, (lead, harmony), worked on Wall Street for many years, sang with many doo wop groups, especially the Dolphins.
